Lions
Seeking Top Spot in NWC
The Lions (3-1 Overall) (3-0 NWC) are coming off of
an exciting 31 to 0 win over the Ferndale Golden Eagles. In the game
the Lions struggled a bit only scoring in the second quarter of the
first half. However, the second half came along with the Lions finally
starting to click, and before you knew it it was 31-0. Lynden will look
to keep and use this momentum against a strong Blaine Borderite team
(3-1 Overall) (3-0 NWC). Blaine is a talented team that has a balanced
running and throwing game. Look for Blaine to be playing with a chip on
their shoulder, as the Lions beat them twice last season and kicked them
out of the playoffs. They could pose a real threat to the Lions if they
don’t arrive with their A game.
Game Capsule: The game on tonight could be
determined on whose defensive and offensive line can prove to be more
dominate. It is supposed to be rainy and cold Friday night so look for
both teams to run the ball. However, Blaine is likely going to try and
create a solid run game then use their quick pass to mix things up. The
Lions will likely come out with a similar scheme. They will look to
their dominant offensive line to control the line of scrimmage. Then
look to Lynden’s talented receiving core, specifically Sr. (WR/DB)
Blair Bomber who always poses a threat whenever he touches the ball.
What’s At Stake: The game Friday night
could end up determining who gets the top spot in the NWC. Both teams
enter the night perfect in conference play, and both would do anything
to remain undefeated. However, this game means a lot more than just
possibly winning the NWC; it could very well determine games and teams
to be played in the playoffs. Both teams have high expectations on the
season, so look for this game to be as exciting and explosive as they
come.
What to Expect: If the Lions are able to
utilize their surprisingly dominant running game tonight than look for
the game to lean the Lions way early. But if Blaine can pull out the
stops and make big plays it could be a long day for the Lions. However,
the Lions defense has looked very strong, as they have held their last 3
opponents to a combined 29 points, and will look for a second straight
shutout. Also, look for the Lions to truly air it out this week as
SR (WR/DE) Ryan Seto has been surprisingly quiet this season
with only 10 catches for 199 yards and no touchdowns. Look for him to
do big things along with Sr. (WR/DB) Blake Groves and Sr.
(WR/DB) Nolan Gudde. |
